It uses pistol boolits and the 350 legend has a designed rifle boolit and one is a hunting round. I talked with Mr Bellm at length about the Max. He is very passionate about it. Maybe if he went with another platform other than single shot rifles. But the 350 legend has an actual big ammo/rifle company pushing theirs. Rifles and ammo.
At least 350 Legend gets you further reach in places that have the restrictions with a semi-auto action and a detachable mag, It isn't going to take over hunting markets in unrestricted areas. We all know it's a super niche product. Even the 357MAX guys got excited before they realized the 350 Legend's case dimensions put it in proprietary status.
I have experience with hunting and the 300 blackout. Most subsonic ammo that you can purchase over the counter is fmj. The lack of power along with a fmj bullet is a very close range cartridge. We have shot many pigs with the blackout and the subsonic round doesn't have the expansion needed to transfer the energy for a lethal kill.
Wow a 1.50 per round for .223. I think it cost me about 20 cents a round to load my own.
Of course I just did a google search as I'm typing this and found out the Colibri velocity is 350 fps and the Super Colibri is around 500 fps. Headshots on squirrels put them down instantly with the supers. Vital organ shots killed pretty fast, few seconds or so them after a few backflip jumps/spasms.
I don't know how long .56-.56 ammo stayed in production and I don't know how many serviceable .56-.56 rifles might have escaped the rebuild with .50 liner. Me? I would not get too precious with caliber designations, it pads the word count but does not advance the plot. Time frame.
The 7.62x39 is certainly adequate for deer but it's on the low end of the power spectrum for big game. Again, in broad terms FMJ ammo is illegal and/or inadvisable for big game hunting. If you're going to use the AK for deer you'll need to find some commercial ammo that's either soft point, hollow point, ballistic tip, etc.
I'm trying to find the most accurate load for my Bolt rifle. I mostly shoot at 2-300 yds. and I don't hunt. So far I've tried 55 grain and 62 grain. My best loads have been with 62 grain bullets. I use Hornady bullets and AR Comp powder. I know there may be better bullets out there and chasing...
A local shop I frequented before I moved had a basement range. It was in city limits and the range was grandfathered in since it was outside of city limits and operational when the city annexed that direction. Their only requirements (based on build details) were to limit the range to pistol calibers and not to allow armor piercing ammo.
Goods: Ammo everywhere and the magnums shoot .44 / .38 Spls., more bullet/charge options for both calibers. Almost every lever-gun maker makes new ones in lever styles you like. Ammo is cheaper to make/shoot than larger calibers and/or more exotic ones. Can be used for targets up to deer/black bears within range/power/bullet construction limits.
