What We Do. The Tax Collector's Office provides billing and collection of real estate, personal property, motor vehicle and sewer fees, and special assessment billings. Taxes are billed annually and collected semi-annually on real estate and sewer fees.
Obtaining information on a property. Our office has public access terminals for public use at Town Hall between 7:30am - 3:30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7:30-1:30pm (Friday) and online access to all current field cards. Cost to print the field card from public terminal is $1.00 per page.
On average the New Canaan Building Department issues approximately 1,700 permits annually for a wide variety of activities ranging from new construction and renovations to simple oil tank or furnace replacements.
