Go to Personalize from the menu. If you already using a theme with a single wallpaper, select some themes with multiple wallpapers. For example, Microsoft’s Line and colors theme, and right after that switch back to the default theme. Close the Personalization window Your Desktop should turn black without showing any wallpaper on the screen.

update: it shows the blue screen background again but if you turn on the pc when you let the pc rest off like 6 hours not being used it showed the picture i think heating is the problem. Report abuse
My PC is running fine, but the background screen gets stuck on this blue screen unless I intentionally go into the Personalization settings window. If I go to the Personalization window, then actual background comes back, but if I try restarting or clicking refresh nothing changes.
Restart your PC and you should be able to set a new picture as your Desktop wallpaper . .. .
OK: then for whatever reason during startup the wallpaper failed to load. This sounds like the kind of thing I would need to get under a local debugger to diagnose. For now you should be able to reselect the wallpaper and it should work.
My lockscreen remains with blue background. Although I have wallpaper (lockscreen) set, it still shows as blue background. Please help. Same problem only just on my desktop PC always stuck at preview screen when selected picture, cant changed corrupted blue picture img005.jpg.
stuck on blue ribbon image. fixed the problem by running the troubleshooter in Windows 11. clicked other troubleshooters. clicked run on the windows update trouble shooter. it found a problem. it fixed the problem. spotlight started working again.

Device Manager says the Graphic driver is up to date - also it's the same one used when I change to my Administrator account on the same PC that gives the correct logon screen. Changing the lockscreen to a different picture still gave the basic blue MS one. I'll try MS Support unless someone comes up with another idea. It's very strange!
