The Committee was a San Francisco-based improvisational comedy group founded by Alan Myerson [1] and Jessica Myerson (formerly known as Irene Ryan [2] and Irene Riordan, [3] later known as Latifah Taormina). The Myersons were both alums of The Second City in Chicago.
The Second City Training Center was founded in the mid-1980s to facilitate the growing demand for workshops and instruction from the Second City theatre. The Training Centers are located in Chicago and [1] Toronto. [2] Satellite Centers formerly existed in Metro Detroit, Las Vegas, Cleveland, New York City [3] and Los Angeles. [4]

The Groundlings is an American improvisational and sketch comedy troupe and school based in Los Angeles, California.The troupe was formed by Gary Austin in 1974 and uses an improv format influenced by Viola Spolin, whose improv techniques were taught by Del Close and other members of the Second City, located in Chicago and later St. Louis. The Chicago City Limits National Touring Company received the first MAC Award given for Best Comedy/Improv Group in 1987 and again in 1988. The New York Company won again in 2008. In 2011, Top 10 New York City by Eleanor Berman rated it one of New York City's top 10 comedy clubs .
