Timeline of fabula vs syuzhet in Memento. In narratology, fabula (Russian: фабула, IPA:) refers to the chronological sequence of events within the world of a narrative and syuzhet [1] (Russian: сюжет, IPA: [sʲʊˈʐɛt] ⓘ) equates to the sequence of events as they are presented to the reader.
A literary text is a piece of writing, such as a book or poem, that has the purpose of telling a story or entertaining, as in a fictional novel. Its primary function as a text is usually aesthetic, but it may also contain political messages or beliefs.
In a simple narrative, the four stages appear in order. That is, the sequence of the telling or presentation follows the chronology of the told.
