The Earl G. Maxwell Arboretum is a 5-acre (2.0 ha) arboretum and botanical garden located on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln [1] in Lincoln, Nebraska. The arboretum began more than 50 years ago when Earl G. Maxwell began to plant trees on the campus.
It now center maintains around 30,000 animals for its experiments, 44 scientists, and 73 technicians. [1] It is also used as a classroom for teaching animal care. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has sent veterinary students to the center for over 25 years for training. All decisions about the animals' use and treatment are made by the center.
