For whatever reason, I could never really get into German music and I've been learning/using it for over 10 years. It was never a problem when learning other languages (Italian, French, Hungarian, etc), but it seems that either the instrumental part isn't good enough or the lyrics feel "flat" to me.
Let’s see. I love German industrial and techno music. Most techno is instrumental, and I assume you’re looking for stuff with lyrics to expose yourself more to the language, so I’ll only list stuff with vocals. More like accessible German language music with synth/dark electronic elements than anything industrial. If theyre looking for German industrial music better examples than Rammstein would be faderhead, einstürzende Neubauten, Atari teenage riot, or wumpscut.
The East German regime refused to have an Udo Lindenberg concert, so Udo made a very sarcastic song about East German party leader Honecker, addressing him as 'Hey honey' and claiming Honecker was a closet rocker who secretly listened to west radio (which was officially forbidden, of course).
As I understand it, there were certain monks transcribing music in Germany and they misread the squared-off b as a lower case “h,” leaving off the bottom line. Because of that, Germans used “H” to represent B natural and “B” to represent B flat.
