The South Asian Games is a quadrennial multi-sport event held among athletes from South Asia. The South Asia Olympic Council , which was formed in 1983, governs it. The Games consist of seven countries, namely Bangladesh , Bhutan , India , Maldives , Nepal , Pakistan , and Sri Lanka .
Medal totals in this table are current through the 2024 Summer Olympics, and all changes in medal standings due to doping cases and medal redistributions up to 11 August 2024 are taken into account. As of completion of the 2022 Winter Olympics , 12 National Olympic Committees have participated on a standalone basis in all 24 Winter Olympic Games.
South Korea has also participated in every Winter Olympic Games since 1948, except for the 1952 games. The first ethnic Korean athletes to win medals did so at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, when Sohn Kee-chung and Nam Sung-yong won gold and bronze respectively in the men's marathon as members of the Japanese team.
