Very confusing indeed. Go to your local county office for social services. Also attempt to call medi-cal and see if they can help. I know those do not sound too appealing, but it is better than nothing. On a brighter note, medi-cal actually had a call back option and they called me back in like 30mins.

  3. Medi-Cal vs. Covered California / Medi-Cal eligibility

The Medi-Cal you qualify for is called MAGI (modified adjusted gross income) and it has no "property" (think liquid resources) in the eligibility determination. Not sure why they asked about "cash on hand" but I do know it's a question on the intake list and some workers waste time and ask them all even when not relevant to the program.

I called a covered California representative to help fix my application so that everything is correct. My new application now has my appropriate income that qualifies me for Covered California. The covered California website says that my application is still saying “Medi-cal: awaiting review”.

Medi-Cal will include dental (Denti-Cal) but the network is likely limited and you're probably going to end up at a community clinic/dental school/federal qualified health center. Dental insurance is basically a discount plan and if you don't get it included in a package you're likely better off finding a dentist with good cash rates/payment plans.

When Medi-cal covers pennies on the dollar for treatments generally covered by private health insurance, no, you're wrong. And when you factor in how illegals resort to using ER when they're on the verge of death as opposed to going in way earlier for way cheaper preventative treatment, this is a cost saver.

So I turned 26 a few months ago, and I realized I'm no longer covered under my parents medi-cal coverage, and was hoping to apply first time for myself. But due to COVID within this past year and out of work. I been receiving EDD payment benefits totaling to $21K in 2020.

  8. Covered California - Reddit

I recently submitted my annual renewal form for Medi-Cal, fully expecting I would be denied and booted to Covered California due to being on unemployment. In other words my monthly income, which I had projected at $1800 at the time, was more than Medi-Cal max. However, to my great surprise, my Medi-Cal has been renewed for another year.

Medi-Cal can cover some OTC prescription medications that Medicare Part D won't cover. It offers managed Medi-Cal plans depending on county, and allows people to join D-SNP MA plans. Medi-Cal can enable other benefits such as In Home Supportive Services (IHSS), dental, etc. not offered by MSPs. More can be said, but hope this helps for now.

Are Covered Calfornia and Medi-Cal two separate things? After inputting my income which is less than $15000 annually (or my household's income which is now going to be less than $25000 annually), it seems like we qualify for free healthcare.

Medi-cal is Medicaid for low/no income and certain populations (children, pregnant women, etc.) and Covered CA is for those who make too much to qualify for Medicaid. If you want to keep Covered CA, even if you're eligible for Medi-Cal, you can, but your financial assistance will be tied to Medi-Cal, and if you don't want Medi-Cal, you won't be ...
