"It's Only Make Believe" is a song written by drummer Jack Nance and Mississippi-born singer Conway Twitty, while they were touring across Ontario, Canada in 1958. Twitty was a relatively unknown rock n' roll singer at the time, and this song was his first hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard chart in November 1958 for two weeks.
Their biggest hit was a cover of the Conway Twitty song "It's Only Make Believe", which was a top ten hit in 1978. [2] Child was reformed by Graham Bilbrough in 2021, with new members of the band Andrew Dures, Steve O Brien, Tony Endecott, and Dave Walker.
During Twitty's lifetime, two songs became closely associated with him: "It's Only Make Believe" and "Hello Darlin'." The latter song would become the song Twitty used to open his concerts. While recording the song in 1969, Twitty felt dissatisfied with the opening line he had written.
Three of the songs on the album were released as singles and became hits, with the biggest being "It's Only Make Believe," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
