The Royal Diaries is a series of 20 books published by Scholastic Press from 1999 to 2005. In each of the books, a fictional diary of a real female figure of royalty as a child throughout world history was written by the author. The Royal Diaries was a spin-off of Scholastic's popular Dear America series.
Dear America is a series of historical fiction novels for children published by Scholastic starting in 1996. By 1998, the series had 12 titles with 3.5 million copies in print. [1] The series was canceled in 2004 with its final release, Hear My Sorrow. However, it was relaunched in the fall of 2010.
Although found to have "an awkward, confusing narrative", [1] Nzingha: Warrior Queen of Matamba, has also been described as "a good addition to the [Royal Diaries] series", [1] and a "remarkable book". [2] It is a 2001 Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People [3]
