On June 5, 2024, the Michigan Flight Museum (formerly Yankee Air Museum), announced Yankee Lady had been sold to a private party in the Western US stating that any future long-term groundings of the aircraft would cause financial hardship on the museum. [13] The plane has since been disassembled for further restoration. [1]

[1] The Air Zoo holds many historical and rare aircraft, including the world's fastest air-breathing aircraft, the SR-71B Blackbird. [2]
The museum was founded in 1993 by the Air Force Association Lake Superior Chapter 283 to preserve a number of aircraft on display at K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base following an announcement that the base would close.
