Following the recommendations submitted by the Philippine Heraldry Committee in 1955, the colors of the flag were standardized and the shade of blue adopted by the Philippine Heraldry Committee was TCCA Cable No. 70077 or "National Flag Blue". The shade of the blue background shall conform to the blue color of the National Flag enumerated in Republic Act No. 8491, the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines. The fringe shall be of knotted yellow silk. The ratio of the Flag shall be 1:2. The flag and seal designs are similar to that of the flag of the president of the United States.
