The academy is led by the commandant and deputy commandant of the Drill Sergeant Academy. The instructors, known as drill sergeant leaders (DSLs) are previously trained and experienced drill sergeants. DSLs are selected very carefully by a panel of current senior drill sergeant leaders, along with the leadership from the academy.
