It's about $9.00 / gal. It works great in moderate temps. If it gets below about 30F , cut it with a little 20w hyd oil to keep it flowing well. IMHO, there is no need to spend the big bucks on STIHL winter grade bar / chain oil or equiv.

There is 10 wt and 30 wt chain oil. Local hardware store has gallons of Huaqvarna chain oil for $10.50 either way. That and the non synthetic pre mix nothing else husqvarna. Get a chainsaw with a catalyst in the muffler and you might not have to thin it, awful fluid looking in and tipping the saw.

The "weight" of bar oil is really all over the place, depends on the brand and the type. I have several gallons of Quaker State and Menard's brand that are more like 5W or 10W, I save those for cutting in really cold weather. My first choice is the stuff you get at a Do-It brand hardware store, summer blend is so thick you have to cut it with a ...

Arizona. Jul 1, 2008. #1. My neighbor who is 76 years old asked me to see if i could get his old saws running. 2 McCullough's and one craftsman. Got both the McCullough's running with some carb work. Got the craftsman to run fine but it just dumps bar oil all the time, whether its running or not, seems worst at idle.

Jun 25, 2018. #1. 90%, I run a 24" Forester Platinum bar on my 461. With the oiler at max the chain seems to be dry all the time. This morning after cleaning up the saw I drilled out the hole, and it is still small compared to other Stihl bars, but a big improvement all the same. Running the saws tip against a clean surface, it was slinging oil ...

The process is hard enough on the saw, bar, chain, and operator. My 395xp was able to keep a 54” bar properly oiled when turned to max using good oil.
