My first mod was Rockslide Engineering steps. My wife needed them to assist her getting into the jeep even stock, so I knew lifted she would absolutely need them. The RSE steps extend about 10" when deployed - I can get measurements from ground level on my 3.5" Metal Cloak lifted on 37s jeep if you want me to.

Hello! I just got my first Jeep recently, it's a Jeep Wrangler 2024 JL Sport 4-door. I am a short person and would like to get side steps to make it easier to get in my Jeep without having to jump. I am using it for regular road driving for now. Could anyone give me their recommendations for a...
@uponblocks - I'll get to this momentarily, just wanted to address concerns others had here first. @blkyukon @garretd - agreed on the factory steps, the wife and I opted for a side step on her 4-door that has a cutout for the leg, so as you get out, you have a gap where your left leg goes (driver side, exiting) so you don't get road crud all over your pants.
Rock rail vs. side steps. My Wrangler came with factory Rock Rail, but I'd like to install factory Sahara side steps to make getting in and out of the vehicle a little easier. On the description of the parts (mopar.com) it says "These steps cannot be used with production Rock Rails because they share the same mounting holes."

I needed a side-step that didn't reduce rocker clearance but that allowed a decently lower step, and there wasn't really anything good besides the wide auto-lowering running boards/side-steps. I don't recall the name of those, and they're expensive IIRC, but the OP should have a look at those too, at least to know the top end of what's available.
RevCo666. Due to wear and tear (constant usage) painting sidesteps won't work. What I would recommend is trying something like penetrol (commonly used for hard top fading) which might work. Bedlining them also is an alternative as stated above but again, unless its a thick coarse lining, it won't be a permanent solution.
The most affordable option might be a pair of Sahara takeoff side steps. You should be able to find them on eBay or Craigslist for $200; they mount on the exact same place as your factory rock rails.
