The route turns east onto Iowa 2 and the two highways travel together until Bloomfield. There, Iowa 2 continues east and US 63 turns north and travels through the town. North of Bloomfield, the highway does not pass through another community for the next 20 miles (32 km) when it arrives in Ottumwa.
