The Bristol Hotel (often called the Hotel Bristol) was a luxury hotel in Mar del Plata, Argentina. At one time it was patronised by the elite of Buenos Aires . Later it became run down, and in 1944 it was sold, subdivided and rented the premises for commercial use.
Inspired by the seafront Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, France, the hotel and neighboring Casino Central remain architectural landmarks of the city of Mar del Plata as well as of Argentina. The Casino opened on December 22, 1939 and President Ramón Castillo inaugurated the Rambla in December 1941.
When Mar del Plata was declared a city in 1907 the resort was called the "Biarritz of Argentina". In 1913 the French rambla was opened, with ceramic pavements from Belgium, balustrades and Greco-Roman statues. [1] In the late 1920s wealthy families began to build chalets and mansions near the Hotel Bristol, and spent their days at the beach.

A stream running through the terrain became the centerpiece for the original 1942 design for a modern, 9 by 27 meter (30 by 90 foot) weatherized concrete structure, which was set on an archway straddling the stream.
