Catawba Island State Park is a ten-acre (4.0 ha) public recreation area located on Lake Erie, six miles northeast of Port Clinton, Ohio. Boating, fishing and picnicking are the major activities of the park. The state park, along with the other units in Ohio's Lake Erie state parks group, was established in the early 1950s. [2]

Catawba Island is an unincorporated community located in the northern portion of the township and the northern portion of the Catawba Island peninsula. The Catawba Island ferry terminal is located within the unincorporated community; the Miller Boat Line runs from the terminal to the Put-in-Bay, Ohio ferry terminal and the Middle Bass, Ohio ferry terminal.
The islands vary by year-round population of approximately 500 on South Bass Island, 100 for Kelleys Island, 40 at Middle Bass Island and 12 on North Bass Island. The island does not have a hospital, but does have an Emergency Medical Service that can use a Life Flight helicopter to transport critically ill patients to mainland medical facilities. In 1952–1959, as well as 1963, the island held road races around a 3-mile (4.8 km) course. In 2011, the Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion returned to the island.

State Route 357 (SR 357) is a 2.353-mile-long (3.787 km) east–west state highway in the northern portion of U.S. state of Ohio.Existing entirely on South Bass Island in Lake Erie, the highway begins at its western terminus of West Shore Boulevard, about 0.75 miles (1.21 km) west of Put-in-Bay.
The lighthouse is now part of the 9-acre (3.6 ha) Marblehead Lighthouse State Park. The park features picnic tables and offers views of Lake Erie, Sandusky Bay, Kelleys Island, and South Bass Island. The Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society operates the Marblehead Lighthouse Museum in the old keeper's house.
