The Tridge, located beside the Midland farmers market, has become an icon of the city and is the most famous landmark of the downtown area. Each year, the Tridge mimics the Mackinac Bridge to the north, in hosting a "Labor Day walk". The festive annual event is sponsored by MACF and the Chippewa Nature Center, and led by the mayor of Midland. [17]
The township is in eastern Midland County, bordered to the south by the city of Midland, the county seat, and to the east by Bay County.According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 32.06 square miles (83.04 km 2), of which 32.00 square miles (82.88 km 2) are land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km 2), or 0.20%, are water. Dow Museum of Science & Art, Center Stage Choirs, Center Stage Theatre, MATRIX:MIDLAND, Midland County Historical Society and Midland Symphony Orchestra. The performance venues feature a 1500-seat auditorium and a 400-seat theater for shows and events.
The township is in western Midland County, bordered to the west by Isabella County. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km 2), of which 35.4 square miles (92 km 2) are land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km 2), or 1.94%, are water. [1]
