Windows recognizes USB flash drives as removable devices due to the presence of a special descriptor bit RMB (removable media bit) on each of the devices. If the system determines that RMB=1 when polling the connected device using StorageDeviceProperty function, it concludes that this device is a removable drive.

I'm not 100% sure why you are getting that error, but I noticed that the flash drive is listed as "ACTIVE" in your Disk Management.. That indicates it is a boot device which may or may not be a problem .. It may also need to be formatted as FAT32.. That is the file system used for most bootable media for a UEFI based system..

All USB 2 flash drives are not recognized BUT USB 3 are recognized without a problem. Just an FYI. I spoke with an MS rep at Best Buy. He was aware of the problem. He told me that you have to enter a code to get the USB 2 to be recognized. My simpler solution: 1) using Windows 10 on another computer, copy anything on USB 2 drive

The problem is not related to my usb hubs, I can use mouse, keyboard, external usb hubs in either of the ports and they work fine.

How this update is allowed to basically brick my USB devices is unacceptable.

I haven't used flash drives on it in a while (my kids computer). I recently tried to put flash drives in and they were not recognized. I tried different drives in different usb ports and even switched (so its' not the drives or the ports). I read on line that you should uninstall in device manager and windows will reinstall the drivers on restart.
