The town of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija was founded on January 3, 1849. This is much earlier than the traditionally commemorated date of February 8, 1849. This historical correction springs from a 2023 archival research. The research finds solid backing from pertinent 1849 records found at the Archdiocesan Archives of Manila.
