Tshwane District Hospital is situated in Prinshof 349-Jr, a suburb of Pretoria, South Africa. It was known as H. F. Verwoerd Hospital (the current Steve Biko Hospital ) until 1994, but is now a separate community hospital that deals with non-critical care.
On 22 April 1927 the foundation stone was laid for the existing hospital the Pretoria General Hospital. In 1967 it was renamed the H F Verwoerd Hospital, in 1997 to the Pretoria Academic Hospital and finally in 2008 to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
