Loggy Bayou is a 17.3-mile-long (27.8 km) [1] stream in northwestern Louisiana which connects Lake Bistineau with the Red River. Bistineau is the reservoir of Dorcheat Bayou , which flows 115 miles (185 km) [ 1 ] southward from Nevada County , Arkansas , into Webster Parish .

J. C. "Sonny" Gilbert Wildlife Management Area (formally the Sicily Island Hills WMA; also called Sicily Island Hills State Wildlife Management Area) is a 7,524-acre (3,045 ha) wildlife management area in Catahoula, Parish, Louisiana, owned by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Lake Bistineau was created by a flood after a log jam in 1800, but the lake gradually drained over time. In 1935, construction on a dam began, and the park was opened in 1938. [1]
Bayou Bartholomew contains over 115 fish species, one of the highest counts of any stream in North America. Visitors to the park may enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking and wildlife observation. There is a 8-mile (13 km) equestrian trail for horseback riders. During the hot summer months, guests may cool off in an on-site swimming pool.
Bogue Chitto State Park (pronounced bo-guh chit-uh) [4] is a Louisiana state park located off Louisiana State Highway 25 south of Franklinton, in Washington Parish.The name Bogue Chitto is from the Choctaw language, bok chito, meaning big creek. [4]
The monumental earthworks of Poverty Point consist of a series of earthen ridges, earthen mounds, and a central plaza. The earthworks core of the site measures about 345 acres (140 ha), although archaeological investigations have shown that the total occupation area extended for more than three miles (5 km) along the Bayou Macon. [7]
Access is primarily by boat on the refuge's Louisiana side and road access is available on the refuge's Mississippi side. In the summer of 2002, a new 0.75 mi (1.21 km) walking trail was unveiled on the Louisiana side of the Refuge that allows access into the interior of Bogue Chitto's habitat.
