The idea behind The Globe of the Great Southwest was first conceived in an English class at Odessa High School in the late 1950s: A student brought to class a model of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and commented to his instructor, Mrs. Marjorie Morris, then teaching in high school, that it would be exciting to have an actual life-size replica of the Globe right here in Odessa.
James Burbage was born around 1531, probably in Bromley in Kent.He was apprenticed in London to the trade of joiner, and must have persevered through his apprenticeship and taken up his freedom, as in 1559 he was referred to as a joiner twice in the register of St Stephen's, Coleman Street.

The Globe Theatre, originally the Morosco Theatre, and Garland Building, is an office building and theater at 744 S. Broadway in the Broadway Theater District of the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles. It opened in 1913, has 11 stories, and was designed in Beaux-Arts architectural style by the firm of Morgan, Walls & Morgan.
