Forks Township was founded in 1754 north of Easton, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a farming based community in-between the Bushkill Creek and Delaware River. Permanent settlement by the colonists happened in the early 1700s due to its proximity to the Irish-Scottish settlement named "Hunter's Settlement" in Lower Mount Bethel Township.
As of the 2023–4 school year, the school district had a total enrollment of 7,978 students between all nine of its schools, according to National Center for Education Statistics data. Easton Area School District encompasses approximately 28 square miles. In 2009, the per capita income was $20,875, while the median family income was $53,545. [3]

Part of Worlds End State Park, a Pennsylvania state park, are in a gorge along Loyalsock Creek in Forks Township. Forks Township is bordered by Bradford County to the north, Cherry Township to the east, Laporte Township to the southeast, Shrewsbury Township to the south and Hillsgrove and Elkland Townships to the west.
