Both towed 2000 just fine. Both towed 3500, just fine. They stopped both fine. The 3500 # load had surge brakes.

   Re: Towing with a Ford Ranger 2007 - V6 3.0L - 2X4 - 3.73 ratio I bought a Bayliner 175 2010 yesterday. The ranger pulled it fine from Kanata to Gatineau. That trip was around 40 miles on mostly flat road. I haven't had a chance to take it to the water yesterday as it was raining in the afternoon and had to shop for some equipment first.

FWIW, I have a 99 Mazda B2500 4 hamsters and a stick (same truck as a ranger) and it STRUGGLED pulling a 3 seater jet ski up a steep ramp once.

   The Mountianeer held up so well over its 230,000 mile life that I thought the Ford Ranger might be a good choice seeing as they share a lot of the same drive train. One thing that surprised me it the Ranger is listed as having a max tow capacity of 6000 lbs!!!! Holy Cow! That sure seems like a lot for a mid size truck.
