The Deep and the Dirty is Eric Johanson's fourth studio album, [7] and seventh overall album, released on July 28, 2023, on Ruf Records. [8] The twelve songs on the album were recorded in two days, supported by bassist Eric Vogel and Grammy-winning drummer Terence Higgins.
Although Higgins was not the first person in the UK to die from AIDS-related illnesses (that being John Eaddie nine months before on 29 October 1981 [10] [11]), it was the death of Higgins that brought the disease fully into public view.
