The York State Fair is a ten-day fair held in July/August in York, Pennsylvania.Formerly known as the York Fair and held in September, it was renamed and rescheduled for 2020, though it was canceled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This type of programming began in the late 1940s and continued into the late 1970s; some shows continued into the 1990s. Author Tim Hollis documented about 1,400 local children's shows in a 2002 book, Hi There, Boys and Girls! [1] [2]
At that point, the building was known as “Millersville University-Lancaster”, [11] as it wasn’t until September 12, 2011 that it was renamed “The Ware Center” in honor of philanthropists Paul W. and Judy S. Ware at a dedication ceremony in the building’s main theater, Steinman Hall. [7] [12]
