Holy Trinity Parish School [3] is a two time nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. As a Catholic school, it serves boys and girls of all faiths, races, and national backgrounds from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade.
Most of Gorse Hill was part of the parish until it was transferred to Swindon in 1890, [2] and a large part of the Penhill housing estate was once fields to the north of Stratton St. Margaret. In the south, Nythe was separated from Stratton St. Margaret in 2015 [3] and now forms part of Nythe, Eldene and Liden parish.

The community was the birthplace and hometown of George Elder, who – along with William Byrne – later returned from seminary in Maryland to found Saint Mary's College in 1821. Saint Margaret Mary's College was officially opened on 22 February 1963 by the then Bishop of Townsville, H.E. Ryan. The school consisted of four classrooms, one office, staffroom, tuckshop, cloakroom and a ‘modern’ science lecture room. Fifty students were enrolled, although the school had capacity for 200 girls.
