Reggae (/ ˈ r ɛ ɡ eɪ /) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica during the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. [1] A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, "Do the Reggay", was the first popular song to use the word reggae, effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience.
It also "doubles as a capsule history of Jamaican reggae" [4] and shows the band performing the songs at a concert at Le Trianon in Paris. [ 5 ] The musical supergroup , a project also called Inna De Yard, is shown collaborating on recording an acoustic album of old songs by each of the musicians, in Saint Andrew Parish in 2017.
