The township is south of the geographic center of Menominee County, with the village of Daggett in the southwest part of the township. U.S. Route 41 crosses the west side of the township, passing through the east side of Daggett village and leading north 9 miles (14 km) to Carney and south 25 miles (40 km) to Menominee, the county seat.

Big Rapids Township is a charter township [4] of Mecosta County in the U.S. state of Michigan.As of the 2020 census, the township population was 3,917. [2]The city of Big Rapids is surrounded by the charter township but, like all cities in Michigan, is a completely separate jurisdiction from any townships adjacent to it.
He was born on August 16, 1826, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Henry Daggett (died 1870) and Mary Daggett (died 1871). In 1838, the family moved to Oswego County, New York, first to Oswego, and about 1842 to New Haven. He attended the public schools, and worked on the family farm.
