Danville Historical Society is the caretaker of the largest repository of artifacts, photographs, stories, and documents in the region and strives to illuminate the present through knowledge of the past. Our home in Danville is an open and inclusive community space.
The society operates out of the historic Sutherlin Mansion, which was built in 1859 and served as the headquarters for Confederate General Danville during the Civil War. The society's mission is to educate the public about the history of Danville and its role in American history.
