Battambang (Khmer: បាត់ដំបង, UNGEGN: Bătdâmbâng [ɓatɗɑmɓɑːŋ]) is the capital of Battambang Province and the third largest city in Cambodia. Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire , Battambang is the leading rice-producing province of the country.
