St. Andrew's Catholic Church is a Catholic church in Pasadena, California. Founded in 1886, it is the oldest Catholic parish in Pasadena and one of the oldest in Los Angeles County. Its Romanesque Revival campanile bell tower is visible for miles and is one of the landmarks of Pasadena.
Following ordination in 1931 in All Hallows, he went to America where at St. Andrew's he served as assistant pastor from 1931-1936 and then as pastor for 27 years from 1955 to 1982. [1] Following retirement he still served the Pasadena church, and in 1986, Msgr. Hourihan published a 224-page history of St. Andrew's parish.

When the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco was erected July 29, 1853, Alemany was appointed by Pope Pius as its first archbishop. Alemany arrived in San Francisco finding three established Catholic parishes Mission Dolores (San Francisco de Asís) (1776), St. Francis of Assisi (1849) and St. Patrick (1851).
