South Louisville is a neighborhood two miles south of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, US. ("South Louisville" or "South Side" is also used to describe the entire portion of Southern Louisville.) The area was incorporated as a city in 1886. The city of Louisville fought to annex the area and did so, after a three-year lawsuit, in 1898.
The land that is today St. James and Belgravia was at one time used for truck-farming and by 1875 became the site of a baseball park.
