On May 21, 2015, The GEO Group announced the signing of a contract with the Washington Department of Corrections for the out-of-state housing of up to 1,000 prisoners at the company-owned North Lake Correctional Facility in Baldwin, Michigan, with a contract term of five years inclusive of renewal option periods. The NWJRCF consists of primarily of Army Soldiers assigned to the 508th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade.These Soldiers are joined by several members of the Navy assigned to the sub base in Bangor who serve as the liaisons for their respective service personnel incarcerated within the facility and also assist in the daily operations of the facility.
