Ipoh (/ ˈ iː p oʊ /, Malay pronunciation:) is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Perak.Located by the Kinta River, it is nearly 200 km (120 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur and 150 km (93 mi) southeast of George Town in neighbouring Penang. [2]

Beginning 11:00 am on 14 July 2009, the Kuala Lumpur–Penang through traffic is now opened to traffic. With the opening of the 14.7-kilometre (9.1 mi) between Ipoh North (Jelapang) and Ipoh South stretch, highway users are no longer required to stop for toll transactions at the Ipoh North and Ipoh South Toll Plazas.
In 2014 the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) renamed the stretch from the Jalan Segambut junction to the Jalan Pahang junction of Jalan Ipoh to Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. [ 1 ] Sultan Azlan Shah was the 34th Sultan of Perak , of which its former namesake Ipoh is the capital.
