The Valley Fair Shopping Center, Valley Fair Mall, or Valley Fair Center was a shopping mall in Appleton, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin that opened on March 10, 1955. This enclosed mall was the first weather-protected one to ever be built within the United States, and was the first to ever open. [2]

Construction proceeded quickly, with some stores opening for business as early as September 1988. A grand opening ceremony was held for the first phase of the mall, consisting of 23 stores and 75,000 square feet of space, on November 2, 1988, with Lieutenant Governor Scott McCallum cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
