By the end of the 1969 camping season, KOA had 262 campgrounds in operation across the U.S. By 1972, 10 years after KOA's creation, KOA had 600 franchise campgrounds. The 1970s energy crisis caused the collapse of many travel-oriented businesses, and KOA's stock price sharply declined as fewer Americans drove for vacations.
The variety of locales and amenities of the parks reflect the diverse geography of Oregon, including beaches, forests, lakes, rock pinnacles, and deserts. The state parks offer many outdoor recreation opportunities, such as overnight camping facilities, day hiking, fishing, boating, historic sites, astronomy, and scenic rest stops and viewpoints.
Lemolo Lake (ləmolo--Chinook Jargon for "wild" or "untamed") [1] is a small lake and reservoir in Douglas County, Oregon in the Umpqua National Forest 30 miles (48 km) north of Crater Lake National Park, on the North Umpqua River. It is part of the Diamond Lake Ranger district, and is administered by the United States Forest Service. [2]
In 2011 the Resort took over management of the Forest Service campgrounds by the lake. The main lodge of the resort has a restaurant, general store and gift shop. The resort provides a full-service marina with a boat launch, moorages, boat rentals, and motorboat fuel available. There is also an automobile service station at the resort. [11]

The resort has cabins and boats for rent, as well as a general store. [2] Trout were first stocked in the lake in 1912. [3] The lake offers fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout., Kokanee, and Atlantic Salmon. [4] East Lake is one of the finest and most traditional fisheries in Oregon, regularly producing brown trout over 10 pounds.

In 1896, George Geisendorfer opened a resort to capitalize on what he called the "curative powers" of Soda Creek's mineral spring water. The resort included a hotel, tennis courts, croquet course, garden and bowling alley. [4] The hotel later burned and the property was acquired by the state of Oregon in 1940. [5]
