Kidane Tadesse Habtesilase (Tigrinya: ኪዳነ ታዳስሰ; born 1 January 1987) [1] is an Eritrean long-distance runner who specializes in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. He was born in Adi Bana. As a junior, he competed in the junior races at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, finishing sixteenth in 2005 and eleventh in 2006.
He carried out a major military operation during the Eritrean–Ethiopian War on the Badme front. He was known for being the only non-Tigrayan general in the Ethiopian army during the rule of Meles Zenawi as he was from the Agaw ethnic group.
