Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in Yosemite National Park, dropping a total of 2,425 feet (739 m) from the top of the upper fall to the base of the lower fall. [2] Located in the Sierra Nevada of California , it is a major attraction in the park, especially in late spring when the water flow is at its peak.
Located in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls is the fourth tallest waterfall in North America at 2,425 feet (739 m) according to the World Waterfall Database. [91] Also in the valley is the much lower volume Ribbon Falls , which has the highest single vertical drop, 1,612 feet (491 m). [ 87 ]
Annual park visitation exceeds 3.5 million, with most visitor use concentrated in the seven-square-mile (18 km 2) area of Yosemite Valley. Mount Watkins is located in Yosemite National Park, 2.72 miles (4.37 km) north of Half Dome, and 1.86 miles (3 km) northwest of Clouds Rest. [1] Precipitation runoff from this mountain drains into Tenaya Creek which is a tributary of the Merced River.

The large viewpoint area is located directly east of the Wawona Tunnel portal, as one enters Yosemite Valley from points south. [1] The view looks eastward into Yosemite Valley, and includes surrounding features, such as the southwest face of El Capitan on the left, Half Dome on axis, and Bridalveil Fall on the right.
