It was inaugurated by the then-chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on 9 June 2017. [6] The college and hospital buildings were constructed at an estimate of Rs. 229.46 crore on about 250 acres (100 ha) of land. It was the 22nd government medical college and hospital in the state.
