Helen Hayes Hospital is a 155-bed physical rehabilitation hospital in West Haverstraw, New York, owned and operated by the New York State Department of Health.Established by Dr. Newton Schaffer in 1900 as a physical rehabilitation hospital for children, it is considered to be one of the first freestanding state-operated physical rehabilitation hospitals in the United States.

The Utica Psychiatric Center, also known as Utica State Hospital, opened in Utica on January 16, 1843. [3] It was New York's first state-run facility designed to care for the mentally ill, and one of the first such institutions in the United States. It was originally called the New York State Lunatic Asylum at Utica.
It was later acquired by the North Shore health system in 1996 and renamed North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills. [4] In 2006, the hospital was renamed Forest Hills Hospital. [5] In 2016, Northwell Health announced that that state of New York had approved a request to operate the hospital under its network.
