It was described with the geographical notion of peninsula as early as the 1st century BC in the oldest treatise called Geographica (in ancient Greek: Γεωγραφικά - Gheographikà), [ 11 ] a work in 17 volumes by the Greek geographer Strabo (65/64 – 25/21 BC).
