Janet and John is a series of early reading books for children, originally published in the UK by James Nisbet and Co in four volumes in 1949–50, and one of the first to make use of the "look and say" approach. Further volumes appeared later, and the series became a sales success in the 1950s and 60s, both in the UK and in New Zealand.

Janet Dawson MBE (born 1935) is an Australian artist who was a pioneer of abstract painting in Australia in the 1960s, [1] [2] having been introduced to abstraction during studies in England while she lived in Europe 1957–1960 [3] She was also an accomplished lithographic printer of her own works as well as those of other renowned Australian artists, [3] a theatre-set and furniture designer.
Janet Werner was born in 1959 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and currently resides in Montreal, Quebec, where she teaches at Concordia University.Werner studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, and, in 1985 she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Janet Zweig was born in Milwaukee, WI, raised in Chicago, IL, and has lived in New York since 1994. Zweig received her BA from Cornell University and her MFA from The Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY. In the 1980s she produced several editioned artist's books.
