Green Valley Raceway was a 1.600 mi (2.575 km) permanent road course, whilst the start-finish straight was also used as a drag strip. [4] In 1966, the original layout was changed to 2.100 mi (3.380 km). [2] The road course was used for Trans-Am Series races, SCCA races, [4] and it also held a Can-Am race in 1984. [5]

Houston Raceway Park, formerly known as Royal Purple Raceway, was a quarter-mile dragstrip in Baytown, Texas, just outside Houston. Built in 1988, the Park is situated on 500 acres on the eastern edge of the greater Houston metropolitan area and is Houston's only major multi-purpose motorsports venue.
A portion of the former airfield was purchased in 1963 by a local businessman, who leased a runway on a year-to-year basis to the "Rod Benders", a hot rod club to use the runway for drag races. The club could not make any permanent improvements at the property. They named the facility "Six Flags Drag Way".
