The Rachel Carson Trail is a 45.7-mile (73.5 km) hiking trail in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. [1] Its western terminus is in the suburban North Park district in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, and its eastern terminus is in Harrison Hills Park along the Allegheny River, near the town of Freeport.
The original four-room farmhouse was the birthplace and childhood home of Rachel Carson, whose 1962 book Silent Spring launched the modern environmentalist movement. The Carson family moved to this home in 1901 with plans to live in the home temporarily, and to sell lots from the 65-acre land to finance building a modern home.

The eastern trailhead of the 35.7-mile (57.5 km) Rachel Carson Trail is just north of the park's entrance. [2] The trail traverses the park's eastern perimeter along the edge of a bluff overlooking the Allegheny River. It crosses Rachel Carson Run, via a wooden arch bridge above Rachel Carson Falls, which meanders below the Ox Roast grove.
