The Eagles, longtime friends and collaborators with Souther, frequently performed "How Long" in concert during the early and mid-1970s. In 2007, the band covered the song for their album Long Road Out of Eden, the group's first full studio album since 1979.
The Long Run is the sixth studio album by American rock group the Eagles. It was released in 1979 by Asylum Records in the United States and the United Kingdom. This was the first Eagles album to feature bassist Timothy B. Schmit, who had replaced founding member Randy Meisner, and the last full studio album to feature Don Felder before his termination from the band in 2001.
The album was initiated by Eagles co-founder Don Henley with help from the band's manager, Irving Azoff. [2] It was intended as a charity album to raise funds for the Walden Woods Project that Henley founded in 1990 to buy the land around Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. [3] [4] On the back cover of the album, it states:
One of These Nights is the last Eagles album to feature the original lineup of Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon (along with then-new member Don Felder). Leadon left the band after the album's tour due to his dissatisfaction with the band's shift from country towards a more mainstream rock sound and was replaced by Joe Walsh.
In 2016, after Glenn Frey died, Don Henley decided that the band would not play again. [2] However, Henley reversed his decision and announced in March 2017 that the Eagles would perform in two festivals organized by their manager Irving Azoff that featured classic rock bands, starting with The Classic West festival held at Dodger Stadium in July that year.
