The 1910 Fort Bonifacio War Memorial Tunnel is a tunnel that was part of Fort William McKinley (renamed Fort Bonifacio), a military base built by the US Military Government of the Philippines in 1902.
The base was equipped with an extensive tunnel network constructed by al-Qaeda's military chief Mohammed Atef, later one of the masterminds of the September 11 attacks. In May and June 1987 Soviet forces attacked the base with heavy artillery, aerial bombardment and numerous ground assaults, in the Battle of Jaji .
Active military families still live on Moffett Community Housing, and the former base has several lodges which primarily house academics and students associated with the Ames Research Center. Moffett Field's facilities available to residents include a Commissary, post office, golf course, and tennis courts.
